A Heartbreaker at the BMO
Reiterated from my previous review, the joys and heartbreak of playoff hockey ladies and gentleman. Michael Leighton did everything he could to keep Jarlath Regan in it, but ultimately Grand Rapids was going to win. It was a terrific game at the BMO, although I couldn’t really see the scoreboard on the wall in Section 102 because of the angle, but I could make out enough to know when penalties were called etc. Jarlath Regan lacked a strong offensive effort against the Grand Rapids goalie, as I like to say, too much shootsy not enough cutesy.
Sure enough, Grand Rapids shoots a rebound into the goal less than half a minute into overtime, and the air just rushes out of the building. Not that there was a ton of it in there in the first place, as the mid-week game coupled with a myriad of other factors gave us a small, though slightly larger crowd from the previous night.
